Global Citizenship Commission
The University of Edinburgh is hosting the first private and public meetings of a Global Citizenship Commission brought together by Gordon Brown this weekend. Earlier today, the University conferred honorary degrees upon five of the Commissioners (K. Anthony Appiah, Derek Bok, John Kufuor, Emma Rothschild and Jeremy Waldron), along with Joel Rosenthal of Carnegie, who are providing support for these civic activities. I got to go along to the degree ceremony. In fact, I signed their (Latin) degree certificates which was quite a weird experience.
Here are the six honorary graduates in the Talbot Rice Gallery, along with the Principal and the people who did the laureations.
