Spent this wonderful day with mbfiatw* Jean. We haven't seen each other since last February, so there was plenty to catch up on, though we both laughed at the increasing amount of conversation dedicated to health issues!

This is the view of the meads and banks of the River Chelmer behind the 'Fox and Raven', where Jean and I had a leisurely lunch that lasted almost four hours. Seems like this week is a pub crawl of London and Essex hostelries! I did take a couple of pictures of the pub itself that I really liked - the building is an old C18th farmhouse with a "modern" Georgian facade added in C19th and is a lovely place both inside and out - but in the end I chose this view behind the pub as it has everything I miss when I am in Istanbul - green, green and more green. The horses were an added bonus for this rural looking shot on this lovely sunny day, so welcome after all the rain. This is a view I used to drive past almost daily when I lived here.

In the evening Dad went out to play Bridge, leaving me and Jean to look after my two nephews whilst my brother went to Parents' evening for an hour. Ralph came round and bro stayed for a while when he came back for the boys, so it was quite a houseful at one point. JJ liked playing in the big transparent plastic box I bought to store stuff and I took some photos of that too! Sometimes it is really hard to choose just one photograph, but then, I rather like this 'discipline' and the process of choice of just one image to summate my day.
