A Ferry Long Way!

Left Port Ellen early this morning in the mist.

The ferry captain announced a road accident near Tarbert had closed the road from Kennacraig (our destination) and there was no way past it. It was hoped the road would reopen at one o'clock so we were to head slowly in that direction.

Two hours later it was announced that the road was still blocked and that we would be rerouting to Oban so we headed back to Islay (but didn't land) and then headed out to Oban.

Six and a half hours later we reached Oban.

I didn't hear a single complaint. The staff had to work on and provided hot meals to all passengers (the ferry was full). Advice was being shared among passengers about stranded cars and taxis to Glasgow airport, quickest routes home, accommodation etc.

We'll be back on track tomorrow.
