A Meeting
Kiwi: BlipBear, what the hell is THAT thing?
BB: Don't worry, mate, I think it's a bird of some sort
Kiwi: A bird?? Well, what was it just doing in the air?
BB: Um, Kiwi, some birds fly...
Kiwi: BlipBear, we promised NEVER to speak of such things. You know it's a sensitive area for me.
Tufted Titmouse: What ARE those things and what are they doing with my peanuts???
Yes, folks, BlipBear and his buddy, Kiwi, arrived in NJ today, direct from our Nation's Capital. (Shame they couldn't have taught our politicians a thing or two while they were there, but that's another story...)
They've been cooped up in their cardboard carrier for a few days, so I thought I'd take them out and introduce them to the birds. The blue jays were totally freaked out and immediately left. The titmice, on the other hand, let curiosity overcome their natural fear of bears and flightless birds. Yay, Titmice! You can expect a few BlipBear blips in the coming week or so while they are here. For a bit of back story on BB, check HERE!
In other news, there is a flock of 30-40 cedar waxwings in the stand of cedars on our property - they've been feeding there all morning, wolfing down berries. In amongst the waxwings are several starlings, house finches and yellow-rumped warblers. A bonanza of birds! I posted four pictures from today, starting HERE - be sure to have a look at the "flying" squirrel!
Neck update: slowly getting better, so am continuing to limit computer time.
Hoping you are all having a good Thursday.
ciao,
Debbi
PS: Last year on this date, we were having an unusual "irruption" of Pine Siskins - shame they aren't here this year as that would be an excellent meet-up for BB and Kiwi.
