Wild
It's been quite a day here.
There are over a hundred bushfires in the state, forty of them uncontained.
The fires took hold so rapidly that everybody was surprised, though given the perfect conditions, hot weather and wild, unpredictable winds, we shouldn't have been.
Blackheath has been lucky. So far. But anything could happen.
In the closest town, Mt Victoria, seven houses have been lost, but because of the severity of fires elsewhere I haven't heard anything about it in the media.
It's going to be a long, hot and probably scary summer, given that it's six weeks away.
So much uncertainty.
These photos of the surreal scenes in Sydney are worth a look.
