I've had plenty of opportunities to reflect over the above saying. It's even become somewhat of a credo to my atheist mind, a reminder that nothing should be taken for granted and our days should be celebrated for what they are rather than whinge for what they could have been...

I met Rev David Smith today. I only wanted to take a portrait of his hands holding the pipe (which I did) but his personality was way too strong to be left behind. We ended up talking for nearly half an hour and I left with freezing hands and an overflowing heart.
