mad on pic taking too

Nordic day!

This morning was very grey and foggy, a typical October morning but I rather like mornings like this. It gives a real feel of autumn.
My first Nordic walk was at Fawsley Hall, along The Knightley Way. (Fawsley used to be the Knightley Family's Home but is now a Hand Picked Hotel and Spa.)
The countryside around here is some of the most picturesque in Northamptonshire and quite hilly so the views (on a clear day!!) are spectacular.
Our instructor took us into the little church on the estate today - it was really quaint and shows the family history by way of the burial stones etc. the most amazing marble coffins (?) is that what they're called when the effigy of who is buried is lying on top?
Anyway, if you can enlarge, you will see the geese that were grazing have taken off. Unfortunately, the hill was sloping down so they just flew to the lake - I was hoping to catch them against the sky!

The afternoon's walk was in sunshine as the fog had lifted and was at Castle Ashby. (There are a lot of Stately Homes around here, including Althorp - the seat of the Spencer family Lady Di's family.) We didn't need a jacket on this walk and even sat outside afterwards for coffee at the Buttery cafe.

When I got home the sun was quite low in the sky so I took the dogs (poor, neglected beasties!) for a walk down the lane and took loads of pics but decided on this one because it showed how most of my day was spent!
Tia found half an eaten rabbit or a bit of lamb's leg (hard to tell) and ate it. Nasty beast! I get the damson trees fenced off and she finds something else to make her ill!!! :-)
