Camera Obscura, Dumfries
Today is day one of our current Scottish adventure, with a short stay in Dumfries prior to visiting my aunt and uncle. After a dull start the weather turned out bright and sunny, making this white building stand out against a beautifully blue sky. Formerly an 18th Century windmill, this Dumfries landmark is now a magical Camera Obscura and museum. The top floor of the museum offers fantastic views with the chance to look through the Camera Obscura which was installed in 1836. It is the oldest working camera obscura of its kind in the world, providing panoramic views over the town and countryside, provided the weather is fair.
