Chocolate Truffles?

I don't think so.

Going out this morning I caught sight of these.
They are about 4" in diameter.

After getting back from the shops I nipped out to take a closer look before the rain arrived.

Obviously they are fungus of some kind, but I have never seen them before.

When I moved round to the other side I could see that they didn't have the usual narrowish stalk - they just seemed to be slightly pinched in and looked as if they are going to continue to expand.

So I assume they are some kind of puffball - but the only ones I have seen before were maybe 1", dark brown and 'spent'.

Our arrival at Bags house saw us being greeted by a wave from The Cygnet ....... through the letterbox.

Both the kids were on great form and playing together - not quite as rough as fox or lion cubs ........... but definitely 2 falls or a submission.

When he came home from nursery The Cygnet was wearing a badge "Star Of The Week".
He did so well last week that he gets this accolade and various perks like being at the head of the 'crocodile' if they go out for a walk and having doors opened for him.

Well done to him!
