NOT what I was looking for...

Today has been grey, with cloud low on the hills, some rain, unpromising. First abortive attempt was to photograph a particular and exciting 'Strawberry Tree' at Castle Menzies -- do not pronounce as written, but as if it were the scurrilous Scots word 'mingin', only with 's' instead of 'n' on the end. Thwarted -- castle doesn't open until Wednesday this week.

Ended up in the local wood, looking for lichen, especially Cladonia, but was attracted by various fungi. This appears to a clutch (is that the right term?) of young Pholiota squarrosa or Shaggy Scalycaps. I usually only go for mushrooms in a big way when well-fried with a steak, served rare! This one is not recommended for eating...
