Reflected light
Hectic and productive day on the holding. After a windy night I spent an hour-or-so collecting up about 10kg of acorns from under the oak tree by our fruit cage – a bit of a treat for Rhubarb and Custard (the pigs) before they head off on their ‘final journey’ in a few weeks time. Feels good to maintain something of the tradition of pannage, especially as our house is within the historic boundary of Kingswood Forest common. Lovely second-breakfast of foraged wild mushrooms, a duck egg from Daisy and home-made bread and Tommy K (Sal's, not mine!)
Late afternoon viewing of a 15’ caravan which someone is willing to give us to host WWOOF volunteers, plus early evening viewing of a truck-load of apple juice/cider making equipment listed on eBay completed the day. Oh yeah – and a trip to the Olde Tavern for a couple of sharpeners….
Rather sleepless night last night with Belly ‘Gapetto’ going round-and-round in my head for some reason - worse songs to keep one awake I guess….
