Bear Pit

Trip to the Sheffield Botanical Gardens today. This is the Bear Pit, grade II listed structure built in 1836. It used to house two real live bears until a child fell in and was killed, back in the late 1800's. Sad story, although the bear pit now provides lots of children with hours of endless fun
