Quail sentry

We regularly have quails walking though the property. At the moment there are two pairs. I love their black nodding head piece and the way they always post a sentry to keep a look out while the others feed.
Two years ago we had about 22 ( as well as I could count) quail here. There were 4 parents and the rest were chicks. They had at least 3 or 4 posted as look outs then, all pointing out different directions, plus others watching the young. Great parents.

Has been pouring with rain and R has gone to lead the walking group this morning. Lucky him! the quail are also a bit wet.
