Ukulele...

To help my son take a more creative path in his learning rather than just focusing on academic achievements, we encouraged him to learn the ukulele.

He wanted to learn the guitar, but a number of people have suggested that the ukulele is a good starting point.

His teacher has asked him to practice every day, but as you would expect from a boy who is nearly seven, he has his own agenda. As he finds most school work methodical or sometimes easy, he doesn't like being faced with a challenge, again another reason for a creative pursuit.

To help encourage him, I've been having a go on the ukulele as well and I can now play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star without looking. Bear in mind I have never played an instrument and the first time I tried the ukulele was yesterday. Yes, I am proud of myself, but not as much as I am for son trying something new and unknown.
