At home: home dog...x
Poppy loves nothing more than to snuggle up to the children on the sofa. Being originally a house dog, its like assuming her old role in life. She's very good at following a movie on TV, she even wags her tail at the funny bits.
The fact is, that here, she spends her time between a large crate/cage with her warm dog bed inside and a small about of free house time. This gives her time to relax inside her crate, and not feel over stimulated by events inside the house. Poppy has been the master of controlling her own boredom, and entertaining herself indoors. Her creative thinking leads to chewed things, TV watching, and reacting to everyone's movement.
It's a cycle that had to be broken for her mental health and our own. Poppy spent the afternoon, in her raincoat finding her retrieving toy in the long grass. She's mastered, sit and stay. She obviously has a good memory because quite often we leave a super long time between 'stay' and 'find it' and she still gets it first time.
She's a smart little dog. The trick will be constant training, so that she doesn't outwit everyone around her.The answer is lots of excersise. If her body is tired her mind will slow down..that's my theory anyway....x
