Doctor's Orders
Update - and a slightly more cheerful looking pic of my little man.
The orthopedic surgeon told him he needed to play lots of video games to work the fingers on his broken arm - now that's a cool doctor :0) ...so here he is being very obedient and playing ps3 with his brothers.
Being home has made such a difference. He is much happier and more relaxed. He has a PIC line for his IV so I can give him his medicine without all the trouble of that painful hopsital IV which caused him so much anguish. We have a nurse that comes out every day and changes bandages, but she has been gradually passing little bits and pieces on to me, and this weekend we were left to try it all ourselves. Funny, a few weeks ago I would have been totally freaked out at the thought, now it seems like second nature. Isn't it weird how we adapt to life.
He can just about stand up, and on a good day he'll even shuffle along a little with his cane and get himself into his wheelchair. Sometimes he's too stiff and tired. They say they'll be sending out a physio lady soon so I think that will help him to get moving more. I hope she's as nice as the nurse that comes out (she brings him a little something every time she comes - such a sweet lady).
All in all I think we are doing quite well. Little man is certainly making good progress in the right direction. And we have all learned a lot which will hopefully make us better people in the end.
We really have been blessed by some amazing health care people. A few in particular who's kindness will stay with me for a long, long time. I wish I could have blipped them and shared them with you.
