Nina Conti
At the Corn Exchange, Brighton Dome.
That's right, for a second night on the trot, we have frequented our favourite haunt of late, the Corn Exchange in Brighton. We went to Carluccio's for a quick & delicious dinner of risotto, focaccia & bellini's for drinks. And then we whizzed across the road for tonight's main course, a menagerie of characters from the wonderful, talented, rather beautiful & quite, quite deranged, ventriloquist comedian, Nina Conti!.. and we were in the front row too!
There was an odd but still quite humorous chap who did the warm up - he had a microphone attached to a bent coat hanger around his neck & he did strange dances & singing numbers - he was pretty good though. Nina was brilliant! So very funny & she has a very vivid imagination that's for sure. She had her Gran from Scotland, her daughter, her builder Stefan from Poland (who was huge & had to be 'worn' by a man from the crowd, who once dressed, was there to do Nina's bidding - suffice to say, he ended up doing press-ups on top of Nina), her new dog Killer (who sported are rather fetching pink collar & skirt, & dropped a 'category C' swear before he was shoved back in the bag - naughty, but funny, Killer!), the old man puppet who proceeded to get naked & shred himself in a wood chipper across the audience, and of course... Monkey!
I told you she was strange!
Oh & I forgot to mention, we spent the day before hand sleeping & chilling - it was great! What a fab & fun weekend we've all had!
