Busy Saturday
We went to Makro early this morning to get a chef's jacket for C & biltong meat. We got those and loads of other stuff. Then we went to Tesco for grocery shopping amongst herds of screaming kids.
We haven't eaten before we left the house, so when we got back we were ravenous & had avoado pear & cheese sandwiches. There was a cafe (the South African type, not the French one) in Fox Street near the Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg which used to sell avo & cheese samies. They put a WHOLE avo on a sandwich!
Then we cut & salted the near 8kg of silverside we bought a Makro for £4.99/kg to make biltong & watched a bit of Heineken Cup in between.
C made garlic ribeye steaks for dinner, which we had with petit pois, beetroot, radish and 2009 Boschendal Shiraz, while watching The HItchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The wine was definitely in a different class from the plonk we usually drink.
