THE EYES HAVE IT!
The most prominent feature of the Eurasian Eagle Owl is its vivid orange eyes. (These eyes haven’t been enhanced – they were just this bright in person.) I caught sight of this beautiful owl between two trees when my daughter (another blipper) and I were visiting the local zoo today. In this species, the female is larger than the male and can be up to 2.5 feet in length with a 6 – 7 foot wingspan. It is one of the largest owls in the world and can be found in its natural habitat of Eurasia and Northern Africa.
I hadn’t been to the zoo in ages, but we decided it was a good place to experiment with our photography – and of course to try to find today’s blip. We had a great time seeing so many unique animals, although it’s tough to get past the fact that so many beautiful creatures don’t live a life of freedom.
