Billy Goat

Obsolete?

Shimano 600 downtube levers from the early 90's. They are so simple, friction or click-shift, 7 speed. No clock springs, double ratchets, pawls or cable roller.
These and a pair of Aero brake levers (which I have too) weigh about half of a modern STi lever package.
Was good enough for Eddy Merckx and Fausto Coppi.
They are now making electric shifting systems - progress - probably not, what happens when the battery goes flat?
Maybe it is because they can do it, they do do it.
Weighs even more than these chaps and costs a grand extra.
These are on ebay tomorrow with the brakes and a chain set, some retro bike builder will have them.
