Stob an Aonach Mhor
The holiday starts here!
What a beautiful day it was today. I headed up to Loch Rannoch and cycled up an amazing private road for 13km ascending from 225m to 650m past the end of Loch Ericht. Then climbed the final 200m to the summit of this Corbett which has to have one of the finest views in the central Highlands. I could see over 60 Munros from the summit.
When I reached the summit cairn, I disturbed a mighty stag who cantered off down the hill. He was a big old boy with possible a Royal set of antlers (12 points).
I lay in the sun beside the cairn for over an hour enjoying the view listening to the roaring of the rut from across Loch Ericht on the slopes of Ben Alder and Beinn Bheoil.
