Spent the day at the University of East Anglia in Norwich conducting Coach Assessments for England Athletics.
The journey up to Norwich normally takes around 1.5 hours. This morning, thanks to various road works on the A11, junction closures on the A14/A11 and the resulting long diversions it took just over 2 hours (traffic very quiet at 6:30 am). Felt as though I had been to the moon and back.
Forecast was expected to be rain all day, thankfully we had reasonably clear skies all day and on the way home the moon was very clear to see.
The moon's orbit around Earth is elliptical. At its closest approach the moon comes as close as 225,623 miles (363,104 kilometres). At the farthest away it gets the moon is 252,088 miles (405,696 km) from Earth. On average, the distance from Earth to the moon is about 238,855 miles (384,400 km). However, the moon is moving away from Earth at a rate of about 1.5 inches (4 cm) per year.
