The Flaxley Meadow

Today was a day full of interest and surprises. We started out early and visited the Willunga Farmers' Market, with a visit across the road from the market to see blipper antipodia, followed by two wonderful open gardens.

The first one was called Tickletank at Mt. Barker, (where the house has been built inside a former water tank), and the second one called Waldheim at Crafers West. Both in the beautiful Adelaide Hills and both gardens are unique in their own special way.

The surprise part was a casual mention to the owner of Tickletank (artist Irene Stone Pearce) that I grew up in the same street. She asked me what house number, and when I told her she said that the current owner of the house was there in her house - helping her today! We were then introduced and Paladian and I are invited back for a visit of the house and garden in the coming weeks. What a thrill this will be.

On the drive from Willunga to Mt. Barker we passed through the small farming community of Flaxley. It is mostly dairy farms and a few sheep. We spotted this wonderful meadow with a fallen gum tree and dam. It was such a picture with the grass almost completely covered by a sea of yellow and white flowers This is my blip for the day! Shot with a 100mm macro lens to see how well it can do landscapes.
