Creative Mackintosh

It has been a busy evening, as I attended three launch events in one night.

The first event was at the Lighthouse for the launch of the Creative Mackintosh Festival by Bailie Liz Cameron. This is the second year of the Festival and coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Mackintosh Society. Over the space of two weeks (October 12 - 27) the city is inviting visitors to explore, discover and create using one of the world's most creative geniuses as their inspiration with over 30 exhibitions, talks, workshops, walks and events in all the major buildings created by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Included in tonight's launch was the awards for the 'Inspired by Mackintosh Photographic Competition' which are on display at The Lighthouse. The winner was keen photographer Mehul Ruparel, with a shot in the Mackintosh Church. During the event I managed to take this interior shot of the Lighthouse.

My third launch event of the evening was at the Willow Tea Rooms, where the celebrated Glasgow artist Archie Forrest was holding his first solo exhibition in Glasgow for more than 20 years and follows his hugely succesful exhibition in the Portland Gallery in London earlier this year. Archie is delighted to be involved in the festival which highights the inspiration and passion of Mackintosh as an artist, designer and architect.

On Tuesday our events kick off with a fabulous Puppet Day at the Mackintosh Church, followed on Wednesday by a talk on the Grand Central Hotel.
