Work of Art

Over the years I've met many adult learners who've told me 'I'm not very creative'.

I can't draw, I can't paint and I can't play any musical instruments. Usually I listen for a while then ask them about what they do like to do.

I like to read poetry and write short stories; I like to design my own clothes; I love to work with wood and make something look fabulous are three of my favourite replies.

Maybe this autumn we should dispense with the can nots and focus on the cans and run some interesting creative adult learning programmes-who knows we may have some furniture designers, best selling authors or fashion designers in the making.

If I can do it then so can you.
