Another face of Singapore

Today we took a "Bum Boat" ferry from Changi Wharf to Pulau Ubin island. Only a ten minute ride away but a totally different way of life.
Pulau Ubin used to be home to a couple of thousand people, although today it is home to only about 100 . They live in timber homes surrounded by vegetation with barely a nod to urban mass and fast living just across the water. There are a few old trucks but two wheels are the mode of transport and day-trippers can hire a bike or tandem for a few hours and feel a million miles away from the bustle of Singapore.
