Windy Gloaming at Portencross

A wee dauner around the tiny North Ayrshire hamlet of Portencross rarely fails to supply a picturesque image - especially when the weather is spectacular, which is quite often. Here a very breezy autumn day comes to an end as the gloaming casts a deceptively warm hue around the storm-soaked rocks and the castle. With my Nikon D300s on a sturdy tripod - the wind being too strong to hand-hold - it gave me the opportunity to use a long shutter speed of 0.8 seconds and ISO 100. This combination created the "Creamola Foam" in the waves yet maintained detail in the foreground rocks. It was pouring rain 5 minutes after I took this!
