What's on my mind ... ?
Emmala inspired me for today's blip: World Mental Health Day.
And the WHO theme for World Mental Health Day in 2013 is “Mental health and older adults”.
I believe I belong to that category :-))
So .... focussed on my mind ..... mindfulness ....
... elements of that, insights obtained years ago as part of my management training.
So I scanned my study/library room and collected some relevant books and course binders.
What elements of mindfulness did I learn where ? (not in a course mindfulness itself though).
A worthwhile and refreshing excersize!
It started with a course Effective Presentation Skills:
containing:
- stress control, control of thoughts & emotions, physical awareness and appropriate response
- the perspective of the moment
- focus on "what is" in stead of worry about "what is not" (or might be)
A course "Insight in Influence":
- Observing and describing what you actually see, awareness, no judgment and not reacting.
- Inner stability, stand conscious in life, awareness of the current moment, rational thinking, be in control over a situation
Then Personal Effectiveness
Chapter on mindfullness.
- Self control, self empowerment
- stress control
- the power of inspiration
Followed by: Leadership, 7 habits of highly effective people.
Paradigm Shift:
- a change in the basic assumptions, a change in mindset
- lots of of tools to apply
I love the story and approach of "Virtual Leadership"
Manage a geographically distributed and dispersed team into a "virtual work group"
- establish trust, empower, unite.
Ad a must for all managers: "Gung Ho"
with:
. The Spirit of the Squirrel
. The Way of the Beaver
. The Gift of the Goose
- set goals and objectives, empower and motivate.
"Inside the Kaisha" was an interesting side-step, new insights.
Demystifying Japanese Business Behavior
- gain insight into the Japanese point of view
- the central importance of context
- ability explain what is happening underneath
Well ... enough mindful thoughts for today I guess ....
