Grand Sierra Resort's Tribute to BCAM
As promised to SweetArt, here is my first offer of the casino/resorts in Reno that are paying tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This is the Grand Sierra Resort. It is the former MGM Grand Hotel (and something else along the way).
Many years when I was just starting my career, my employer sent me to Reno on a business trip and they had me stay at the MGM Grand. My room was on one of the top floors with a full panoramic view of Reno and the Sierras. It was a very successful business trip and a wonderful time for me.
Several years later, my employer relocated my family to Reno. For the month before my family joined me, my employer put me up in the MGM Grand again in a suite on the top floor. Even though I was away from my family, it was a magical time for me.
Those were the days when MGM had their lion as a mascot. I don't remember his name, but he was on site during the times that I was there. He was truly a magnificent animal and they took excellent care of him.
About 15 years ago, the MGM Grand closed it doors and was sold to one of the big chains. They lasted about 5 years, then they sold to the Grand Sierra Resort. The GSR then sold most of the rooms as time share apartments. While it is still a marvelous hotel, it has lost its charm of old.
My esteem for GSR has risen greatly when I saw them change out their normal white lights to pink to pay tribute to BCAM.
BRAVO GSR.
And so this is my humble offer in recognition of BCAM.
Many thanks to all of you for the stars and hearts for last few blips! You are amazing people!
