Black Watch
A typical day's walking in Scotland - in sunshine, rain, hail, SNOW and winds so gusty that I was blown over at one point. The wild Rhinns of Kells, walking the ridge south from Corserine.
The walk starts at the Forest Lodge, not far from Dalry. The lodge once belonged to Norwegian shipping magnate, Fred Olsen. This figurehead came from a ship called the Black Watch which once sailed between Britain and Norway until captured by the Germans in WW2 and sunk in a Norwegian Fjord. When the ship was salvaged after the war, the figurehead was returned to Scotland.
We are home now, footnote and tired. Hopefully a quieter day tomorrow.. ,
