Safely ashore
Today was a very busy day as several club members decided that the weather forecast for tomorrow was so grot they wanted their boats ashore today.
Got the trailer down the slip this morning and pottered about, had fish and chips for lunch then went out to the boat.
Started the engine and left it to warm up while I got the mooring strops off the buoy, if you leave them on all winter they are quite disgusting next season and definitely not something to be hauled on deck.
After that I pumped out the engine oil, changed the oil filter and refilled the sump.
Then it was slip the mooring and back to the now submerged trailer.
The tractor boys pulled the trailer back up the slip and put me on the scrubbing flat where I pressure washed all the barnacles and weed off the bottom - no wonder she was a bit sluggish on the last few trips.
The so-called antifouling paint has a life of about 3 months - and its £20+ a litre, next year I shall try a different formulation I think.
Anyway, she is on shore and ready for a day of winterising before the frosts start.
