Magpie Inkcap

I've been looking for this striking toadstool for the last few weeks, associating it with this time of year in our Chilterns beechwoods. Today, I suddenly found quite a few. As with other inkcaps, the Magpie, Coprinopsis picacea, disolves away to an inky fluid carrying the spores quite quickly, but at least this one shows its rather elegant, frilly black and white cap for a few days before becoming a wet mess on the ground.
