Desperation set in on a day with no light, the only animated beings were umpteen pond skaters, whizzing around on our smelly pond. The colour of the water reflects the grey sky which feels like it is going to suffocate us at the moment. I have never really looked at a pond skater close up before!

The water meniscus really does bend!
