Has anyone got some spare feet?
Owwwwww! I am shattered and won't be spending long on this one tonight! It was a long day.
I slept really well last night but I reckon my legs and feel are aching too much to let me sleep tonight. I got up early and was out on the road before 8am to allow me over an hour and a half to find the course centre a 20 minute walk away. I was so confident armed with my maps and phone! I popped into Boots opposite Liverpool Street Station and was horrified to discover that it was one of those self service check out places. Now, despite the fact I have been an IT person for 26 years, I really am not suited to this modern world at all. I managed to set all the alarms off with my unscanned item in the bagging area and a massive security guard had to assist while loads of exasperated super smart super efficient Londoners tutted, shuffled their feet and rolled their eyes to the ceiling while I died a thousand deaths and came out of there with a blood red face 15 minutes later.
Anyway, I got hopelessly lost and nearly got run over several times by people on bicycles by Smithfield Meat Market, gave up and rang StayAhead and the receptionist had to talk me into the building. I only just arrived on time (after several duff turnings) and was greeted by a row of grinning faces and 'Oh you made it then?!' when I eventually got to the right floor where the reception was...
There were only 3 of us on the course thank goodness and I thoroughly enjoyed my first day of training once I had calmed down a bit! At lunchtime, Lynn, one of the other delegates came out to grab a sandwich with me saying she'd better make sure I didn't get lost on the way back. Dearie me....
Nigel, the StayAhead salesperson collected me after lessons and took me for a walk round St Paul's, over the Millennium Bridge, the Embankment etc where I took too many pictures as usual. Despite all the great ones of the London Eye and St Paul's, I decided on this one because I just love the lampposts. The big pointy thing is The Shard. Nigel was a very informative tour guide although I wasn't taking notes so I expect I'll get lost again tomorrow!
I expect you are all looking forward to tomorrow's big pointy thing.
Anyway, I was back here by 9pm with my legs hanging off and in need of new feet. It's great to be back in my walking boots and the tendon is fine. I just feel like I'm breaking new boots in again after not wearing them for nearly three months. Can you overdose on Compeed plasters? I hope not....
