Over Complicated

What should have been a straight forward job (10min) ended up taking an hour and a half.

This is the blown element from our condenser dryer (or melted if you look closely enough). A small panel which holds the element unit comes off as easy as ten screws, only to find that the cable connecting to it is plugged INSIDE the machine via a 1 1/4" hole. And because I had no chance of unplugging it, there was NO chance of an instant elemant swap.......

So off came a further 20 plus screws & 3 more panels - front & two sides! Even the plugs didnt match so I had to "unpick" the pins/connectors and swap the plugs. At least the wires were colour co-ordinated, otherwise I would have been f?cked!!

It is a known fact in this throw-away society we now live in: products are designed to not be mended.......so you either have to pay the company to repair it for you or buy a new product, from the same company! And they know what to charge: 40 quid for a new element or £180 for a new machine (2 yr warranty). Most people opt for the second as £40 plus labour would proberbly equal £180!!!

Not sure if I got a good deal here!

Missed my photo club tonight too....................... :-(
