Das ist was religiöses
That's a religious thing
Believe it or not (I sometimes don't), but I went on a pilgrimage today. After 13 days of Oktoberfest in a row that seemed apt. It was my 6th time I walk the 115 kilometers from Wolnzach to Altötting, one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Germany and Europe.
9 years ago a friend of mine and I decided at a graduation party (totally sober of course) to do that. Our group grew from year to year and now we are a band of approximately 10 people, who know how to properly walk and drink pray.
We started at 3 o'clock in the morning after only 1 hour of sleep - as we wisely attended Oktoberfest yesterday - in Wolnzach, rested at Nandlstadt, Moosburg and Buch am Erlbach, to reach Vilsheim after the first leg of 50 kilometers. Surprisingly the sleep deprivation did not take any toll neither did the 12 wheat beer I drank in the course of the day.
The really interesting part of the pilgrimage are the evenings at our lodging, though. Already Jesus knew why he turned water into wine, just sayin'... Went to bed at 2 o'clock in the morning and looking forward to an extensive 2 hours of sleep - going to hate myself tomorrow, like every year.
The blip shows an assortment of drinks: Ramazotti, wine (in pint glasses), and the inevitable beer (although the beer there is almost undrinkable).
Roundup of Day 1:
*50 kilometres of walking (approximately this way)
*0 blisters (or other insuries)
*1 hour of sleep
*temperatures as low as 2°C
*12 wheat beers
*6 Ramazotti
*3 glasses of wine
*1 rosary prayed (there will be more tomorrow!)
I hope you enjoyed the series of Oktoberfest I posted for the last two weeks (starting here)! But 13 solid days of Oktoberfest were definitely enough for me!
