BEE GENIUS!
Some bees are more intelligent than others – here’s proof! Bees are programmed to ‘do what they do’ instinctively; they all do the same things, the same way, without deviation. All except this little guy – he was smarter.
It rained all afternoon – not a downpour, but a definite steady rain. In searching for something to blip I noticed there were four or five bumblebees clinging to the lavender blossoms. They all looked like they were dormant or sleeping, very still with their noses tucked into a flower, and they were all wet – all but this little guy. He had the sense to create an umbrella by hanging on under a leaf to stay dry. In fact, he is just high enough that the raindrops collect on the very tip of the leaf, just past his rear-end, so he won’t get soaked like the others. I don’t know how long those little feet can hold this position, but he was still there when I last checked.
I was surprised to see bees working the flowers today - usually, on a rainy day, there isn’t any activity. However, since it’s already October, they’re probably desperate to get all the nectar they can before there aren’t any flowers left – regardless of the weather.
