Autumn village

One Street 20
I'm afraid it is another compilation but I wanted to show some of the contrasts of the day in our village in my 'One Street' series.
A truly glorious morning, sky as blue as blue, as I walked up to church with the sun gleaming on the turning leaves on increasing numbers of trees. I'm including this in my one street as they are linked to our church which is situated on Long Lane the main thoroughfare.

The top left is the view across the road taken from the church door, looking up towards Moor Edge off Keighley Road. I was attracted by the colour in the tree. Inside we still had the village WI exhibition to enjoy after the service. I was confused yesterday as there was a Golden Jubilee book from 1965 but this was for the Golden Jubilee of the organisation. This weekend's exhibits were to show the life in our village in 2012 which was the 50th anniversary of our village (Harden) WI. They meet on the first Monday of the month in our church family room. I'm not a member but maybe it is worth thinking about.

It was all very interesting to see events and people from the village now and in the past including the period when our house was built. There were lots of lovely crafts on display too but I particularly like this quilting and felt the detail was very appropriate to the season.

We made the most of the weather with a walk around Goit Stock. Lots of people were out so had lots of stops for a chat. We are a very friendly village! Hope you have had a good weekend too.
