PINK DAY 6 - DIAMONDS ARE FOR HEIFERS.....
.....or so this ornament is called. It belongs to my daughter-in-law and whilst looking round for my pink blip today for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I espied this, so hope she doesn't mind! (Actually she owes me because she forgot to switch off the radio alarm and I was rudely awoken at 8 o'clock by Radio 1.)
Usually there is something underneath which says what it's called, but there was nothing, so I enlisted the help of Joshua, our grandson, and he came up trumps. He told me it was by Caroline Shotton - and isn't it amazing how tastes change - when I was 21 I collected Wedgewood china and still have the pieces now.
I know HeartFreek will love this though, so I dedicate this to her!
Beautiful day today, so think it's time that Mr. HCB and I spent some time together, so we are off for a walk in the sunshine. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday and please click here to help someone who would not otherwise be able to have a mammogram.
Saw this in The Times magazine yesterday and thought it was worth sharing - given the theme this month - taken from an interview with Jo Malone, who worked as a beauty therapist, mixing lotions in her kitchen, before opening her first shop in 1994. She later sold her business to Estée Lauder.
Cancer was a chapter in my life.
I can let it be the book or let it just be a chapter
and turn the page.
What we see is not who we are. When I was ill, I was in a cafe and a woman asked to be moved away from me. I said: "Madam, I have breast cancer and I'm on chemotherapy. That's why I've lost my hair. You cannot catch breast cancer by sitting next to me."
I sat back down and I wanted to cry.
No-one has the right to treat someone else like that.
