The Way Up
Today was the first day of the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour. Our friends Rick and Judy drove up from Bellingham and Steve, Arvin, Helena and I joined them to visit several of the studios. Rick and Judy have a large van and we all fit comfortably. The weather was fantastic and we stopped at quite a few studios where we visited with the artists and other folks we saw along the way. We had a delightful day. We stopped at Rocket Donuts in Fairhaven for a snack half way through the day and ended up at the Pepper Sisters for a southwest style dinner. Our sister-in-law Nora joined us for dinner.
This photo is looking up a long staircase to several studios above. I used the "watercolor" filter several times to create this surreal sense of color. For a more gaudy look, look large. We were on the way up to Ben Mann's studio. His art is all over Bellingham but this was the first time we met him. We were delighted to learn that he is the brother of some friends of ours. He is the seventh child and our friend Helen is the first. We also know his sister Jean who is a wonderful singer. We had a great time talking with Ben about his art and his fantastic artistic family.
It was a great day.
