Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Collage of Grandkids

I used to know how to make a collage on my computer; then, I switched to a Mac and I still have not learned this clever maneuver. On my PC, I used a program titled "Paint," and it worked well. I guess I need a better program than iPhoto on this MacBook Pro to do the trick. I'm open to suggestions.

Collage or no, we had a tremendous afternoon with the grandkids -- all four of them. The older three, Ashly (the redhead), Desiree (Tristan's mom), and Emerson all went to Kohl's Department store to do some shopping, so they stopped here first to leave Tristan with us. We opened a little puzzle box -- a 100 piece puzzle of a Formula 1 Race Car -- and we thought "How hard can it be to put together this little 100 piece puzzle?" Sheeeeeeeesh!

When the older three sent a text saying they were ready to meet at the restaurant for a late lunch, the three of us here were giving this puzzle our best attempt. Tristan proved to us that he is a master puzzle constructor (is that a word). But when it was all said and done, the puzzle is missing a piece! I think someone in the factory was having fun filling puzzle boxes with 99 pieces.

Desiree and Tristan live in San Diego, so they arrived late last night and are spending the weekend with their cousins, Ashly and Emerson. This next Thursday Desiree goes to Family Court hoping to be granted custody of Tristan. She says she doesn't think it looks good because when she and Tristan's dad (who she never married) went to mediation several weeks ago, Tristan's dad lied that Tristan has been living with him the past 2 1/2 years. Actually Tristan lived with him for 13 months from June 2012 till July 2013. Before that he has always been with Desiree. The paperwork from mediation came back with the recommendation that since Tristan has been with his father for the past 2 1/2 years, Tristan should stay with his dad. Currently Tristan is living with his mom and attending 1st grade in San Diego. What a mess. Makes my heart break.

The autumn wind is still blowing here, but not quite as strong.

That's life in Southern California for today,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
