it gets a bum rap...
...the little carnation
but it's a deserving flower - just like all the rest - don't you think?
i don't understand why the bum rap - where that comes from - how it started - why people have this notion it shouldn't get the same attention - in my mind - it has all the same indications of a beautiful flower - that any other flower does - however... it has long been used as a "filler" - one which has stood the test of time - for being hardy - lasting a long time in bouquets - it doesn't give in - it remains steadfast over the long haul - is it because of that - that we look down on it?
glance closely - you will see many facets to this lowly blossom - many nuances - a variety of shadows and light which dance across its surface - it's no ordinary flower - and the fact it stands alone - when all others have faded - gone to their withered deaths - should be a lesson to us - not to take it lightly - not to be too harsh with our judgement against it... taking it a step further as we sometimes do with each other - don't be too quick with how we look upon each other either - for we can be biting with our ways - now can't we? it's a fine lesson to be learned - from this lowly flower - let's not let it have this bum rap anymore - stand up for it - include it in the fold with all things - be inclusive - for then it'll be...
a
happy day.....
