Blue Chair

Celestial blue,
From Tutankhamun's eyebrows,
To a plastic chair.

Spotted this blue chair lent up against the wall in a work area behind the Buxted Park Hotel.

The history of blue is quite interesting, originally culled from ground lapis lazuli. Apparently ....
Lapis lazuli, a semi-precious stone, has been mined in Afghanistan for more than three thousand years, and was exported to all parts of the ancient world. In Iran and Mesopotamia, it was used to make jewellery and vessels. In Egypt, it was used for the eyebrows on the funeral mask of King Tutankhamun (1341–1323 BC)

Obviously this made the pigment very expensive but also very special and inspiring when used in painting ... think of all those renaissance masters ...

Even in such a mundane situation blue is still celestial and inspiring .... which is why I have colour popped, when i don't normally do colour pops.

Blue is also the theme of the day as I have just been to the flicks to see Blue Jasmine ... a tour de force by Cate Blanchett and almost Shakespearean in it tragedy ....not a particularly feel good film but a good film nevertheless.

Off to watch the recorded Strictly now ....
