A Day At A Time.

Wish You'd Been Here

It was a fabulous night of first rate Floyd music, performed very competently indeed by Gib Floyd.

They originally formed for a one-night-only charity concert back in the summer. But it seems they enjoyed themselves so much, as did we, that they have returned for two nights this weekend.

They began in the now-traditional way for all Floyd tribute acts, repeating the starting sequence of the 1994 Pulse Tour; Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts 1 and 5 followed by Learning to Fly and then a selection of the greatest from pre- and post-Waters eras.

The only down side was the audience. I don´t think it would have mattered had they been listening to Pink Floyd or the Sex Pistols, they clapped and screamed and shouted and whistled all the way through every song, regardless of the whether such applause was appropriate at the moment.

One gentleman, and I use the term loosely, insisted on standing up and trying to encourage everybody else to do the same. Then he thought he´d wave his lighter over his head and I was rather hoping he would set his hair on fire, but alas. At one point he climbed up on the stage to join in and was promptly repelled by the second guitarist!

As the chap sitting next to us had said earlier, whatever the audience hadn't manged to get down their necks before the concert, they had succeeded in sniffing up their noses.

None of that really mattered. The music was great and we both loved every second. I think I have converted Jacqui to Floyd, so that bodes well for the future of our relationship!

Happy weekend one and all.
