Pears, Beans and Bacon

This is a traditional dish in my former hometown Hamburg in Germany, called
"Birnen, Bohnen und Speck". I was so lucky to find a pear tree a couple of days ago in a park that was full of the hard little pears, that ripen in late fall and that I have never seen for sale here in Reno. So I had to harvest a little bit and was able to cook this dish with the last beans of our yard. It was a good meal on a cold autumn day and everybody liked it!
