Shady Lady

Waratahs are wildflowers native to south eastern Australia. Evidently there are five natural sub-species and a growing number of cultivated versions. This particular one is the blood-red variety called "Shady Lady" which (according to the kind lady who owned the garden) is essentially a hybrid of the iconic, pinkish tight-packed New South Wales sub species and the rather more free flowing Victorian Waratahs.

This thing is so red that I was quite certain it would overload the sensor's red channel and so it did. Far from nudging up the SOOC red in post processing, I actually wound it back a trifle to retrieve more detail.
