Almost Sunset over Newport Channel

Late this afternoon the three of us--Mr. Fun, Bob dog, and I--took a drive to the edge -- the edge of our continent. The Newport/Balboa Beach Peninsula and Channel here in Southern California is a favorite place, but that was obvious the first two weeks of August when our blips were filled with the edge often while we vacationed there. So today we went back to a favorite place to spend the last couple hours of our day. Here it is a few days back without the glare of the afternoon sun.

Across the channel today we could see the waves--big waves--breaking with off-shore wind blowing the mist toward the open ocean. We watched lots of boat traffic in the channel, as weekend boaters came back in, and below us families played on the glistening sand of Corona Del Mar as the sinking sun gave everything a beautiful shine.
