Shepherd and sheep

By Dame Elizabeth Frink, in Paternoster Square, close to St Paul’s Cathedral, "which was long the site of a livestock market".

A day out in London! B had to register documents at the Guildhall, which took all of 10 minutes, so we made the most of the day by booking seats for an evening performance of War Horse.

We did another section of “London on the surface”, rather than London underground. We had lunch at the Royal Exchange before the Guildhall appointment and then walked towards St Paul’s, planning to take the tube to Holborn. St Paul’s was closed due to an incident, so we walked on to Holborn and then Drury Lane to pick up the theatre and Loch Fyne meal tickets which I had booked on line.

An afternoon spent in Covent Garden just looking!! By this time I was about “walked out”!!

The show was at the New London Theatre, not very impressive from the outside, but the best theatre for viewing and seats that I have experienced in London so far!!

The show was enthralling. There has been a great deal of publicity in the media over the years and everyone knows that the horses are “puppets”, but their actions and behaviour give you the sensation that they are “real”. A very skilled and marvellous interpretation of the story, with elements of humour along the way! I loved the goose, but I would wouldn’t I!!

Having read the book, seen the film, this compliments both and added a new dimension.
