Lift up your heads
These are the East Gates of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. I was there tonight ( the second time in a week) for an event - this one to launch a very positive report about Scottish Higher Education.
The Botanics are one of my favourite places, full of memories from my childhood on. The gates were designed by Edinburgh Architect Ben Tindall and made by blacksmith Alan Dawnson in 1996.
They feature flowers of the Rhododendron calopytum but they put me in mind of the words from Psalm 24 and the setting of them in Handel's Messiah.
