Peace SHATTERED!

Sweetwater Beach (Playa de Aguadulca on Gran Canaria's south west coast is a peaceful and serene haven.

If only the rest of the day had been as peaceful! after returning to the hotel I went out for a walk, stepped onto a pedestrian crossing with others after the traffic stopped - THEN a car accelerated across the third lane and HIT ME. I was bowled into the road, thankfully quickly picked up by 2 others who'd also been crossing and also by a passing taxi driver who'd already got the car's number and reg - THE DRIVER DID NOT STOP!

In the road was the car's wing mirror that hit my watch and shattered it though the watch and its metal strap probably saved my wrist from worse damage - I have a cut, bruising and swelling on the right wrist though no bones broken. A sore left rib cage. A bruised right knee, and he RAN OVER my left foot (sandals) so badly bruised on 3 toes though no breaks.

Police informed, taxi driver made a statement as he saw the whole thing.

My camera, in the bag I was carrying at the time - is unharmed!
